I handle a variety of practice areas including:

I handle divorces, child custody cases, family defense in cases brought by Child Protective Services, family violence protective orders, and juvenile defense cases.

I also handle guardianship cases which are cases that involve adults who are incapacitated who need someone to assist them with decisions and management of their affairs. The law requires that alternatives to guardianship be explored first so that persons with disabilities do not lose their rights to make decisions for themselves unless it is absolutely necessary.

I provide estate planning for individuals who do not have complex estates. This includes wills, powers of attorney and advance directives, and advice about how to pass assets outside of probate.

When a person dies, there are different options for handling the estate. I can analyze the case to determine whether it is necessary to probate a will or whether there are alternatives to going to court.

I am knowledgeable about the eligibility requirements for government programs such as housing, food stamps (SNAP), Social Security, and Medicaid. I can help when the government denies an application to these programs. There are usually very short deadlines to appeal.

I can help clear title to real property or provide advice on how to conduct a real estate transaction to ensure that the person buying the property acquires clear title.

I defend persons accused of crimes in state court. I can also help with related issues such as driver licenses suspensions, occupational driver licenses, expunctions and nondisclosures.

I represent individuals in district court, county court, and justice of the peace or small claims court.

I have represented individuals with cases that are on appeal from the trial court to the court of appeals. I have also handled petitions for review in the Texas Supreme Court and at the Court of Criminal Appeals.
